Ancient Y-DNA haplogroup J2b-Z2432 samples are found in chronological order, at Shahr-e Sukhteh (Helmand Culture) in the early 3rd millennium, the Sapalli Culture (a southern Uzbek variant of the Late Bronze Age Namazga VI complex), in the Swat Valley of Pakistan in the early first millennium and in samples considered to belong to the Medes tribe around 300 BCE at Marsin Chal in Semnan Province, Iran. While this haplogroup is nowadays found at a much higher rate among South Asians, it is not likely to have originated there. The J2b-Z8280 line appears to have introduced agriculture to South Asia. The J2b-Y28235 line did not introduce agriculture to South Asia, but one of its child lines did migrate to South Asia later, possibly with Indo-Aryans from BMAC. --- Note that on the HRAS screenshot, the ancient samples are shown only to the regional code level of resolution for now. Also note that I do not know whether the ancient sample from southern Uzbekistan is actually basal J2b-Z2432 or simply has no coverage for downstream lines. This information is not presented on the FTDNA tree. --- Migration and Relative Frequency Map from HRAS - https://hras.yseq.net Facebook group for J2b-M241 (this is parent line of J2b-Z2432) - / 134551707167401 To vote on research topics for me to cover, sign up for $8 a month at "Connecting to our Ancestors through DNA" - https://www.patreon.com/user?u=15752543
