I have been meaning to get a rake of FS express coaches in the 1950s, two tone brown Castano / Isabella colours for some time. However, 2nd hand coaches are hard to come by and new options are expensive. Luckily, Tecnomodel of Livorno were selling off sets of type 46 and 57 coaches in this colour scheme at a price that made picking up old second hand coaches unnecessary! I have put together a generic express with these, with the composition as follows (it's basically what I have!). Rivarossi E646.019 in grey/magnolia colours (without FS logo on the front)- it must be just out of the factory!! 2x Lima GS family wagons with corridor connections and jumpers for passenger trains. 1x ACME Tipo 46 A 1x Jouef CIWL WR Restaurant 1x ACME Tipo 57 B 2x ACME Tipo 46 B 1x ACME Tipo 46 A 1x ACME Tipo 57 B The Tipo 57 coaches must have been the last delivered in Castano Isabella colours! The other train underlines something about Castano Isabella colours- at the time, it was not possible to colour match the shades of brown accurately, so by the time you have different batches of paint with various states of sun fade, it is completely unprototypical to have a colour matched rake of coaches- they should all be in wildly contrasting shades of brown. There is a photo that proves this in this article, that discusses the matter https://www.binariedintorni.it/2021/0... My local train is hauled by a very impressive E428 2nd series (or 3rd series if you count the 1st series as two distinct batches) by Rivarossi. It train consists of a mix of Roco Centoporte and Hachette Corbellini coaches. The Roco coaches come with door handles that will literally drive you mad to install. I may have installed them the wrong way, but there is no way I am going through the hell of correcting them!! So all subsequent coaches also get setup wrong. The Hachette Corbellini are in no way Lima/Rivarossi cars, but produced in ugly shiny plastic. There is also no way that you can unclip the bogies and swap them for the single axle Lima/Riva fittings!!!! I have used varnish to tone the shine down. There should be dark brown up to the rain strips on the roof, but as it would be practically impossible to colour match the paint, I have left the roofs completely silver. This may have happened in real life, but it is difficult to tell from black and white photos.
