Let’s explore the depths of it in the video. Rex draws his blaster from his holster and enters the warehouse, where he believes Fives has hidden himself. Gripping his gun nervously, he peers around. Technically speaking, he should not be here. Capturing and taking care of Fives was assigned to the Coruscant Guard, but he does not trust them to handle it. They seem way too eager to apprehend him, and he knows that Fox can get too trigger-happy. He dares not even trust Anakin to help him. While the Jedi was always a friend to the clones, he is too close to the chancellor and has taken this recent attack very personally. Although he wants to help Fives, Rex can’t be sure where his full loyalties lie. As he moves deeper, Rex continues to look around, covering every corner and preparing himself for a possible attack. Thankfully, nothing of the sort happens, but from the corner of his eyes, he can see movement. Rex: Fives? Fives? Are you there? He points his gun to where he hears some boxes fall as he slowly backs up into the center of the room. And then, he hears a hum above him as a ray shield activates. He cries out as it creates a barrier around him, preventing him from moving. Rex pounds his fist against the wall as his friend appears. Fives’s eyes dart around nervously, making sure there is no one else around. Fives: You came alone, right? Rex: Fives, what’s going on? You need to let me out now, soldier. Fives: No, not yet. Not until I know I can trust you. Rex: We’ve known each other for years, of course, you can trust me. But you just attacked the chancellor. There are reports all over the holonet that you went insane. I want to believe you, and I wanna help you, but I need to know what is going on. Fives shivers, but manages to spit out the story of his time in Kamino, how he learned of Tup’s death and the inhibitor chips. The words come out in a rambling rant that causes Rex to tense up. He doesn’t sound well, and he is still not fully convinced, at least not until Fives reaches into his pocket and pulls out a datapad with the information he’s compiled. He’s shown that the cause of Tup’s death was listed as a tumor, but shows pictures of the rotted inhibitor chip inside his brain. It doesn’t say anything else, but it is an inconsistency. For the first time, he begins to see what Fives is saying. It might not prove anything about this grand conspiracy, but there might be more to it than he realizes. Rex: Alright, I agree, there is something off about it. But we can’t stay here. The Coruscant Guard is looking for you, and I don’t think they’re only interested in bringing you in. We need to leave, now. Right on cue, sirens wail overhead as a Coruscant Gunship appears through the windows of the warehouse. Searchlights flash across the room, forcing Fives to dive for cover. He deactivates the ray shield and allows Rex to join him. Fives moves over to a maintenance pipe and opens it up for the two of them to crawl through. They emerge in the back of the warehouse just as clones begin to file in. They say nothing as they disappear into the city below. Soon, the streets are filled with clones, but the two are heading towards the Lower Districts, where the Coruscant Guard is less able to follow them. They take shelter in an abandoned house, hoping to lie low and gather whatever information they can. Rex uses his military clearance to access the files Fives can’t reach, but it seems that they are catching on to Rex’s own defection, as his clearance has been revoked, and he can’t view anything. This leaves them with no way of investigating the truth on their own. But as they plan their next move, they hear a faint hiss and then a canister flies through the room, smashing through a window and emitting a sickly green smoke. Fives cries out, and Rex leaps back. He accidentally catches a whiff of it and feels a stinging sensation that leaves his head feeling heavy. It doesn’t seem like standard tear gas used by the Coruscant Guard. Fives: Coughs. This is spice gas. Cover your mouth! They draw their guns and try to make their way out. But as they move, Rex continues to cough and shakes his head. #starwars #starwarswhatif #whatif
