With the Green Skills for Hydrogen Lab Series, we want to make the core technologies of the green hydrogen economy tangible: You are invited into the laboratories where electrolysis cells and fuel cells are fabricated using state-of-the-art processes, testing, and development. In this video, you see how to mount a solid oxide cell in a rig for testing. The video shows the different steps involved when mounting a cell in a rig for testing. First, the base plate is prepared. Then the different Ni layers needed for the cell test are measured and adjusted to make sure they fit the test house. The layers are collected and glued in the test house and then transported to the rig, where electricity and gas inlets and outlets are connected. When all is properly installed, the cell is ready to be tested in the rig at certain temperatures and for a certain amount of time. AcknowledgementsFilm recorded in 2025 in the lab at the Department of Energy Storage and Conversion at the Technical University of Denmark, DTU. The video is exemplary, which means it does not cover all the steps of the process but selected, important ones. The processes and scale mimic research needs, but the core techniques are basically the same as in industrial production.
