Second Section : 2015 North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) Championships - Set Test Piece www.capitalcitybrassband.com Video: soundwaves.org Conducted by: Dr. Kenneth Kroesche Kingdom of Dragons by Philip Harper I - Monmouthshire II - Blaenau Gwent III -Torfaen IV - Newport The award-winning Capital City Brass Band (CCBB) is made up of accomplished brass and percussion musicians from the mid-Michigan area and has been exciting audiences since 2001 with spectacular concerts featuring everything from traditional British brass band hymns and marches to virtuoso transcriptions of orchestral standards, jazz, show tunes, and electrifying solo features. The band has performed at venues across the state of Michigan for a variety of audiences. In 2015 the CCBB placed second in the 2nd section at the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) Championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Previously, the CCBB competed in the 2014 and took second place in the NABBA 2nd section. In the 2011 the CCBB competed in the NABBA championships for the first time and were named 3rd Section winners. In 2013, 2014, and 2015, the band sent it's 10 piece ensemble to NABBA and took first place in the division. Additionally, in 2012 and 2013, the band participated in the US Open Brass Band Championships in Chicago IL and took third place in 2013. Their conductor, William Waterman, also took first place in the category of "best new composition or arrangement" at the 2013 US Open Championships. Individually, members of the band have competed and placed in competitions like NABBA throughout the years. Today the band continues to challenge itself musically and grows through each performance opportunity.
