Following the Carloway River (4K)

Abhainn Chàrlabhaig, Following the Carloway River. This short film explores the Carloway River flowing from the start, Loch na Bràiste, in the South-East to North-West direction to Loch Chàrlabhaigh, an inlet at the mouth from East Loch Roag. There are dozens of freshwater lochs in the triangle Cleitichean Beag, Beinn Mhòr and Carloway village, all connected that collect the water coming from the hills feeding the Carloway River. The hill landscape is rugged and rocky. The moors and the heather change colours through the seasons. A beautiful backdrop if you are walking, cycling or riding on the Pentland Road. Interesting fact, the Pentland Road was initially laid out to be a railway. But the scheme was abandoned due to opposition. Some of the bigger lochs hold salmon, and the smaller lochs offer brown trout. You will need to contact the local angling club to get a ticket.
