Tool-Assisted Speedrun Made using Dolphin Emulator v2412-349 ~3000 rerecords, ~5 hours of work over one day GXTREME v5 gameplay mod by superSANIC https://gamebanana.com/mods/40469 Machine: Wild King-V Setting: 100% Max Speed Time: 34"349 Splits: 12"520 + 11"192 + 10"667 Inspired by this run by FSF: • F-Zero GXTreme v5 - 36"486 on MCTR with Wi... and the backwards facing F-Zero X TAS runs by Jagg2zero: • F-Zero X Backwards-facing Tool-Assisted Su... Controlling this machine was very strange. From what I understand, the Wild Chariot body part has negative grip which makes it pinball all over the track, the Red Rex cockpit reverses most of the controls, and the Comet-V booster makes you drive in reverse. Wild King-V also comes with a lot of unique quirks. Depending on where the camera is facing and whether or not you are airborne, the controls for steering and strafing will switch back and forth between mirrored and unmirrored. When the camera was facing forward, the controls were mostly normal. When the camera was facing backwards, the controls were mirrored. If the machine catches air, it will fly upwards toward the stratosphere, but it is unable to get much momentum going downward back towards the ground. That's why I avoided liftoff at all costs. From what I've tested so far, snaking and shift boosts don't really work when driving backward. That might just be a consequence of the machine itself because it seems to immediately lose almost all of it's speed if the accelerator is shut off. I had to keep the accel on for practically the entire run besides the lift off section.
