How To Strip Motorcycle Front Spoked Wheel Hub | Barn Find Triumph Bonneville Front Wheel Strip | 10 In this episode I completely strip the front wheel of my 1975 Triumph Bonneville T140V. I intend to rebuild it with new spokes and a new rim. Here are some of the tools I am going to be using for this bike: Imperial Combination Spanner Set: https://ebay.us/gYz85M Imperial 1/2inch Socket set: https://ebay.us/jylH05 Imperial Allen Hex Bit Sockets: https://ebay.us/iFV0OQ Originally I was thinking that I might paint the rims on this Triumph Bonneville T140V black as well as cleaning and polishing the spokes. I felt this would fit in more with my Desert Sled, Scrambler ambitions. However the rear wheel wasn’t in as good condition as the front, so I did think I would probably have to rebuild it. Which got me thinking about rebuilding both wheels. Around the same time we went to the Classic Mechanics Show at Stafford Showground. I spotted a stall in the Autojumble (Swap Meet) that was selling alloy Italian rims of the brand Borrani. I have always wanted to have these kind of rims on a bike and as the asking price wasn’t too high I decided to try to buy a pair. Unfortunately they only had the front one, so I did buy it, at a great price, with the intention of finding a matching rear. However when I thought further about it I decided that the Borrani rims wouldn’t really fit with what I had in mind for this bike. That and the fact that a rear rim seems to be impossible to find made me decide to go back to my plan of having the rims black, only this time I would look to have them powder coated. Along with stainless spokes this should give a great look, which is similar to the wheels on my CB750 Cafe Racer. I found a set of powder coated rims on a well known marketplace for a really great price. So now I have ordered stainless spokes and nipples, so that I can build the wheels. In preparation I am now stripping the wheels and this video is the front wheel strip. I also intend to vapour blast the hubs using a homemade vapour blast cabinet. I will then decide on the finish for the hubs, which I might powder coat black, but I will see how the look blasted first.
