I've been meaning to restore this beautiful hatchet for ages. To bring it back into service and back to life. I restore tools to use them and like to minimise the brutality that is sadly unavoidable when restoring an old tool like this. So I'll grind when and only when I have to and I'll never do full body mirror polishes that erase any hint of a tools past or history. Hope you enjoy and something different for me because I'm not talking in this video. Coming up.... 1. I'll be testing just how sharp it is and the link will be here: • Cut Myself Shaving with a Japanese Axe 2. I'll be making a handle for the hatchet which will also be a no talking vid: insert link after publication 3. I think I'll also do versions of the sharpening and the helving (making and fitting the handle) of this restoration where I'm talking to explain my thinking as I go. Insert link here if I do it :) I'm no master but I've got some skills and some very nice toys. On this channel I share what I know and what I think will help and invite you to join me learning new stuff and exploring different tools and techniques.
