The Belgian village of De Panne or La Panne is located on the North Sea near the French border. It is well-known for its coastline as well as for environmental preserves like Westhoek, where dune and grassland habitats provide a haven for migratory birds and Highland cattle. The Coastal Tram begins in De Panne and travels east to Knokke-Heist along the Belgian coastline. --- The 260-hectare, huge dune structure known as Ter Yde is located along the Flemish coast. This beautiful natural area has a number of hiking trails that wind through various kinds of dunes. Ter Yde has consequently great ecological value.
