Driving Ljubljana to Venice and Venice Walking Tour

We take a drive from Ljubljana to Venice a 235 km trip that took us about 2 hrs and 50 mins. We left a wet and dull Ljubljana and made our way south to Venice. The further we drove the brighter and sunnier it got. I think we finally mastered paying the Autostrada tolls - by cash at least. Credit card will have to wait for our next driving trip to Italy. We finally found the car park to drop off our hire care - its opposite Venice Mestre Station and not at the Avis office. Next we queued up for a while at Mestre Station to buy tickets to Santa Lucia Station - a short 12 minute and 8.7 km ride away. We arrived at Santa Lucia Station and walked about 15 minutes to our hotel that was not that far away - I need to travel lighter! We dropped our bags at the hotel and proceeded to walk around Venice. The temperature by mid afternoon had climber to the mid 30's. Highlights included: Ponte dell'Accademia Campo Santo Stefano Campo Manin Piazza San Marco (St Mark's Square) The Bell Tower in the Square - We ride up to the top (open 9.30am to 8.45pm - inc elevator €10 pp) Rialto Bridge Campo San Polo Church of Saint Roch & Leonardo da Vinci Museum We had a very nice dinner then headed back to the hotel.
