Plants, as the primary producers in an ecosystem, are very influential members of a community. Relationships between average height, total plant mass, and number of plants displaying no development were examined for Raphanus sativa over a period of twenty days to look at the impact of intraspecific competition. The growth rate of the plants in the highest density pots (15 seeds) was greater than that of the five and 10 seed pots. The number of undeveloped plants could explain the relationship between growth rate and total plant mass by illustrating that the pots with a higher density produced a heavier total mass. Our results showed that higher plant density to higher growth rates but, higher plant densities when coupled with lower germination rates led to heavier total mass.
