In this Physics video lecture in Hindi for class 11 and B.Sc. we derived Mayer's law in thermodynamics. Mayer's formula is Cp - Cv = R. Here Cp is molar specific heat capacity of an ideal gas at constant pressure, Cv is its molar specific heat at constant volume and R is the gas constant. Specific heat capacity of a substance is defined as the heat supplied per unit mass of that substance per unit rise in temperature. Molar specific heat at constant volume of a gas is defined as the heat supplied per mole of that gas, kept at fixed volume, per unit rise in temperature.
