Did you know that in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, these particular military uniforms are genuine World War 2 uniforms and not costumes. They were found in Eastern Europe by Costume Designer Joanna Johnston. Late in the movie, Indy kneels to avoid a blade from the wall since “only the penitent man will pass.” However, notice that a second blade comes from the floor to get anyone who knelt and bowed forward, as would a Muslim, whom the crusader guarding the Grail would have been fighting. When young Indy gets trapped with a lion, he uses a whip which cuts his chin. When we see present day Indy later in the film, he has a scar from it. Anyone wearing a lapel flower tries to take out Indy. It is even signaled that Elsa is among them early on when he gives her a lapel flower when they meet. When Elsa chooses the false grail for Donovan and he is holding it in the foreground, in the background you can see Elsa turn to Indy and subtly shake her head “no” at him. Then there’s a second shot of her turning her head to Indy where she does not shake her head, which is an apparent editing error. After Indy drinks from the real grail, you can actually see the effects of eternal life from the holy grail working in the movie. Before Indy drinks from the grail, we can see this wound on his head. After he drinks from it, moments later, and is helping his father drink from it, we see that the wound is gone.
