What you heard just now, is nothing but the desperate situation of one of my students. Each day I used to get calls from youth who seek help to come out of the mental stress that they are in now. What has Covid done to our youth? Hi guys, Welcome to Showtime! Our youth or students are in trouble. And when I say that, I really mean it. Survey reports do prove that one in two (i.e., 50 per cent) young people across the world are possibly subject to anxiety or depression. Everyone who sees this video please make sure that you consider the youth around you, and don't take it lightly if they tell you that they need help. Recently I had a conversation with one of my teachers. He is working as the Asst. Professor of English, under Kerala University. I happened to talk with him on what change Covid has brought about in the educational sector. To my surprise, he first shared with me the huge positive aspect that Covid has brought us to. Let’s hear what he shared. We humans never wish to be a failure. And we would always strive to be successful. Many nations found it really hard to fight against the odds that Covid brought in. That is when Covid travelled all the way to Asia. There it met the second most populous country in the world, India. The best part here is that we used covid as a means to achieve development in the best way possible. We proved that rapid achievements in the field of technology is possible and we are ready to compete. Yes we have succeeded in this, but is it actually a complete success, or are we neglecting some in this celebration of success. Think about it. You can sit at home right? You can enjoy life doing nothing. What is your problem then? Why can’t you sit and study? Why can’t you write the assignments, why don’t you start working on your project? These are questions that are quite frequently being asked to students or youth these days. Let me tell you something, to those who ask such questions. Do you really think that they are being lazy? You must be kidding me. Do you think that these young people are sitting idle because they want to. Hey hey, please do understand that these young people out there are filled with energy, but they are forced to be within the four walls of the house. They can’t go to college or schools, they can’t interact with teachers and friends, they can’t actively be a part of both academics and extracurricular activities. Guys they have been doing all these for a long time. And how do you expect them to feel okay, in this pandemic situation. They need to socialise, else they would be desperate for sure. The pandemic, lockdown, has not made them idle but detached them from society. We should understand that. This is not the end of happiness. Hope is what leads man to happiness, a friend once told me. It might be so, but I do believe that happiness is something to be explored constantly. Listen to what Jeeva Krishna would like to share in that. I know those who are going in this situation might not be even interested to listen to all this. But my words are to those parents out there, to please try and understand the situation of your children. Don't blame them for what they are going through right now. Its not them, but the Covid. I request the teachers not to pressure the students with submission dates, test paper surprises, project deadlines and so on, instead give them support, help them come out of this. Finally you friends can help each other by understanding the situation of such youth and hold hands to win this situation. We will come out of this Guys keep in mind, getting triggered is not a choice. I am Renjith signing off from shotwime
