Dalits are being denied temple entry, access to common water sources, and basic respect in public spaces. They are subjected to ritual segregation such as being refused haircuts, and are treated as untouchables even today. In a shocking incident, a Dalit woman was verbally abused and called casteist slurs when she went to a medical shop. Even worse, the police have failed to support the victims and instead seem to be siding with the dominant caste perpetrators.
