A large pack of African wild dogs was stationary for most of the day at the De Laporte waterhole in Kruger National Park. With the heat of the day bearing down on them, they found relief in the cool water, happily playing to escape the sweltering temperatures. As the sun began to set, a sizable herd of African elephants approached, likely parched and hoping for a refreshing drink. However, the wild dogs, seemingly unaware of the elephants' needs, advanced towards them, completely ignoring their presence. This must have made the elephants quite anxious, as they hesitated to step closer to the waterhole. It’s striking how the wild dog pack's mere presence affected their behaviour. Witnessing this interaction was not only incredible but also offered a poignant reminder of the complex dynamics in the animal kingdom, making for some truly memorable wildlife photography.
