First space launch from Norway | The Bottom Line

At the end of March, history will be made in Norway: Germany’s space start-up ISAR will attempt a first launch of its rocket called Spectrum. This is a new contender into the European fleet of launchers apart from market incumbents, Arianespace and Avio. It is also going to be the first orbital launch from the Andøya spaceport in Norway, which up until this point served only suborbital launches. Should ISAR succeed, it will open new opportunities for the European launch industry, which has suffered heavily due to the competition from the U.S., mainly in the form of SpaceX. Success will also prove that Europe can seed and develop new entrants into that industry, as ISAR is the best funded start-up of its kind from the Old Continent.
