We are currently planning an in-person, outdoor ceremony to honor and celebrate the class of 2020. In this video, D49 Chief Education Officer Peter Hilts explains what we’ve learned from our community forum about graduation. More than 1,500 of you gave us more than 27,000 inputs about D49 graduation in 2020. Click here to take a closer look: https://my.thoughtexchange.com/report.... The survey provides more input on our next steps via ThoughtExchange, as we balance our plans with guidance from our governor and county health departments, along with input from our district school board. Under the newly-released “safer at home” restrictions related to the COVID-19 health emergency, gatherings greater than 10 people are prohibited. However, Governor Polis has said he will support Air Force Academy-style graduation ceremonies so long as they are advised by the county health department. Many in our community want to wait until a ceremony with guests is possible. Knowing there is no guarantee we will be able to invite guests to graduation ceremonies, what is the best way to choose a date that gives us the greatest chance to include guests, without going so late that many graduates have to leave before experiencing graduation? We invite you to take some time to consider these questions and share your voice with us as we move forward with our plans to celebrate the class of 2020.
