January 10, 2026 Aine (10 years old) Lishmoa School of Music Student Concert Instrument: Steinway D (concert grand) Venue: Kanazawa Public Hall ( Yokohama, Japan ) Piano teacher: Tatsuya Nagashima Beethoven piano sonata Op.14-2 1st movement Chopin impromptu Op. 29-1 Prokofiev prelude Op.12-7 ‘Harp’ Over a very short period of time, she took on the challenge of preparing three demanding works: Beethoven and Chopin from early November, followed by Prokofiev’s “Harp” Prelude starting in December. Although she had studied the entire Beethoven sonata and had hoped to perform the complete work, the time limit meant that she presented only the first movement. There were a few unexpected moments during the performance. In the Chopin, the tempo moved faster than intended, and in the Prokofiev, the finger cover used for the glissando came off partway through, causing a brief loss of control over the sound. Even so, she stayed focused and continued through to the end. Looking ahead to a music festival in Aichi this April, she is preparing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 13 in its entirety. In addition, she will perform the three pieces from this program, along with works by Rameau, Handel, and Dvořák. Balancing the preparation of so many pieces at the same time has made these months especially demanding, and watching her work through it all, I truly admire her effort and perseverance.
