ZORBA Accelerando for the Military Band Originally, "Zorba" is derived from "Zorba's Dance" by Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, part of the 1964 film Zorba the Greek soundtrack, accompanying the Sirtaki dance. Ed Keeley, the arranger, proudly served as the Director of Music for The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas from 1997 to 1999. "The Zorba" is an accelerando (a gradual increase in speed) marching display that propelled the fast-paced Gurkha Band to widespread popularity across Europe, as well as in the USA, Canada, India, Nepal, Brunei, the Falklands, and Afghanistan.
