🍅 Tomato care in early summer — watering, deleafing, and simple observations. Cordon tomato plants need more attention than bush varieties, but they reward you with easier picking and fewer blemishes. I grow them in no dig beds, with no feed or fertiliser. Fruiting is lighter, but plants are healthier overall. In this video I’m showing cherry tomatoes (Sakura F1) and beef tomatoes (Berner Rose), grown in a temperate climate around 22°C / 72°F. Beef tomatoes can struggle to set fruit in cooler conditions, and you’ll see how some trusses fail while others thrive. You’ll also see signs of leaf roll from high daytime temperatures, how I manage airflow by removing a few lower leaves, and how uneven watering can affect individual plants — even in the same variety and bed. Surface roots mean it’s important to keep moisture consistent. Observation helps. No need to worry about a few aphids or whitefly — they provide food for predators like ladybirds. 🍅 For more on how I grow tomatoes, see my full tomato growing guide here: 👉 https://shop.charlesdowding.co.uk/pro... #nodig #tomatoes #charlesdowding #tomatocare #polytunnel #growyourown #homegrown #soilhealth #sakura #summergardening
