Here's something that people had thought to be a fever dream until seeing it again. Rugrats: Snow White was a straight-to-DVD movie released in September 2005, and had only two airing on the main Nick Channel on Sunday, November 13, 2005 and then again on Wednesday the 23rd (the latter was confirmed not too long ago by a fan's listing). This movie tried to recapture the Rugrats charm primarily due to the current backlash of its sequel series, All Grown Up. To do this, they pretty much had to go down to the demographic that was their character's ages, Nick Jr's audience and this didn't do very well because the fairy tale medium dragged the Rugrats down. The next movie, though, Three Jacks and a Beanstalk, was even worse for the exact reasons, and is even more obscure. The Snow White movie, though, ultimately fascinates me for its experimentation with the Rugrats characters in a commonly told fairy tale (especially Susie as the titular girl as it was a black lead role that was a substantial improvement over 1943's Coal Black), and ultimately had a good amount of lore and humor in it, which 3 Jacks really lacked (I saw both movies on Netflix in 2012). Nevertheless, happy 32nd anniversary to the Rugrats franchise & check out the 2021 series, it's better than it looks. Rugrats has good morals and relatability which is what made it great, it's not about gross-out humor or crying. Subtlety is timeless for this cartoon, and the new show understands that nicely amidst the modernization and retcons. Rugrats' legacy shall live on! Subscribe please!
