Windshield Wipers Stopped Working: 4 Reasons And How To Fix. In this video tutorial I will show you how to fix windshield wipers that stopped working. Here is what causes it and how to fix the issue Wiper Arms are Frozen When the temperatures are low, the wiper could get frozen. In this case, the wipers are not damaged. When you turn them on, you will hear the motor working, but the wipers struggle to move. To fix this, scrap any bits of ice you see on the wipers. Next, start your car up. Upon doing this, let the engine run for some minutes. As the engine warms up, the windshield will slowly defrost. Let this continue for around five to ten minutes before turning on the wipers. The Wiper Pivot Nuts are Loose The nuts on the wiper pivot are likely loose. As a result, the motor for the wipers will function. However, the wiper arms will not work. To fix this, get a flathead screwdriver. Then, use it to extract the round cover on the wiper’s base. In doing so, you will see the pivot nut. Then, get your screw wrench. Use it to tighten the pivot nut. Upon doing this, test the wipers. Repeat these steps until the nuts are tight enough for the wipers to function well. The Fuse Could be Blown The wipers could strain due to ice buildup and snow accumulation, among other reasons. Consequently, the strain causes the fuse to get overloaded. Eventually, the fuse could blow. To fix this, get your owner’s manual. Then, use it to determine where the fuse box is in your car. Next, get your car’s fuse diagram. Use it to find the wiper fuse. Upon doing this, get the fuse you will use as a replacement. Then, remove the old fuse and install the replacement. The Blades are Torn or Damaged The blade’s edges are possibly worn. The rubber on the blade could have several tears that make the blade less effective in its functions. To fix this, inspect the blades to spot signs of tears. If you notice these signs, install new blades. If you found this video helpful, kindly show your support by giving it a thumbs up and sharing your thoughts in the comments below.
