EADS Barracuda Test Flight

The EADS Barracuda manufactured by EADS is a jet powered European unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).The unmanned aircraft is a joint venture between Germany and Spain designed to support communications for network-enabled operations and real-time transmission of information including broadband line-of-sight and intended for the role of combat and reconnaissance. Development of the Barracuda project was stopped after the first prototype crashed at sea while approaching for landing during a test flight in September 2006. The program resumed shortly after with a second prototype being completed in November 2008. It was during July 2009 that the Barracuda performed a series of successful test flight that gave the green light to push the project for further testing in 2010 and 2012.
