Before Jibreel descended. Before the word "Iqra" echoed in the cave of Hira. Before a single ayah of the Quran was revealed. The people of Quraysh already had a name for Muhammad ﷺ. As-Sadiq. The Truthful. Al-Ameen. The Trustworthy. He ﷺ stood on Mount Safa and asked the Quraysh: "If I told you there was an army behind this mountain, would you believe me?" They said: "Yes. We have never known you to say anything but the truth." (Sahih Bukhari 4770) Even his ENEMIES testified to his character. And his character is what made Khadijah رضي الله عنها seek him out for trade — and then for marriage.
