Kerry got the wild idea to tile our Skoolie shower with a broken-dish mosaic! Well, the idea started as a broken TILE mosaic, but we couldn't find the colors she wanted in ceramic tile. In the meantime, Kerry was practicing her grouting skills by making broken-dish tea-cup and coffee mug mosaics (see our Etsy store), and so the idea was born to use colored dinner plates to make the tiles for our ocean scene mosaic! We started with a test patch to make sure the clear contact paper would hold the pieces in place while we put them up on the wall, but then come off the tiles easily once the thinset was dry. This video shows the whole process, from our test patch to much more! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty! We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever! We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond! Mike & Kerry
