Microstrip Patch antennas are widely used in Satellite Communication, because of its advantages compared to conventional antennas. A cubesat is a type where it is used in space research is made up of multiples 10*10*10 cm cubic units. It have a mass of no more than 1.33kg per unit and often used in commercial electronics and structure. In this project presents a slot rectangular micro strip patch antenna to operate at Ku –Band Frequencies(12-18 GHz). Ku band is primarily used for satellite communications .In this project a new design of patch Antenna with square Shaped Slot bounded by a rectangular patch is designed . Microstrip antenna consist of conducting patch on a ground plane separated by dielectric substrate radiation, from ground plane has different dielectric configuration. Square Slot is created in rectangular patch to obtain better gain, Bandwidth, Directivity and VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio). Antenna is fed using the microstrip feeding technique. The operating frequency is 12 GHz.The Antenna is designed and simulated on FR4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.4. The design is analyzed by Ansys HFSS simulator software 2022 R2 by which return loss, 3D polar plot, Directivity and Gain of the antenna are computed. The manufacturing of antenna is carried out on a PCB and it is tested using Scalar Network Analyzer (SNA). Parameters of antenna like VSWR, return loss are measured using SNA.
