The 40th anniversary since the murder of of Archbishop Janani Jakaliya Luwum has been held at his ancestral hiome in Wii Gweng, Mucwini Sub-county in Kitgum district where he's buried. An influential figure in the Church, an outspoken and yet calm man of God, Janani Luwum was killed on this day in February 1977. His death was the peak the rivalry between the Anglican Church in Uganda and former President Idi Amin.
