Transilien is the name of the RER-network located in the Île-de-France region in and around Paris. This network consists of 14 lines, each one of them going to several destinations. Five of these lines actually go through Paris, the other ones just head out of the city. One of these five lines is line C, which leads completely through the city along the Seine river, past various landmarks, like the Eiffel-tower or Notre-Dame. Outside of Paris the line spreads towards different directions. The train shown in the video starts at St. Quentin en Yvelines, in the west of Paris, and travels to Étampes, which is located in the south of the city. It stops at every station, except between Bibliothèque François Mitterrand and Juvisy. Between these stations this RER goes nonstop for 12 minutes, also reaching the maximum speed of 140 km/h. From the station of Étampes the train branches off to reach the nearby destination St-Martin-d'Étampes. This RER constisted of two double decker EMUs, a class Z20500 in front and a class Z20900 behind. Other train types being in operation on line C are Z5600 and Z8800. This video was recorded in a class Z20900. These trains were built from 2001 to 2004 and have a maximum speed of 140 km/h, like the other train types used on this line.
