Jayanthi Kumaresh, the Saraswati Veena maestro, takes the centre-stage to perform Kaapi Taanam. A sixth generation musician, Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh is India’s torch bearer worldwide for Saraswati Veena, the National Instrument of India. Her life achievements over 30 years, truly embodies the rich musical heritage of India – making her one of the legendary Veena masters that India has ever produced. HCL Maestros in Studio is a unique platform by HCL Concerts in collaboration with The Peninsula Studios to empower the great artists of today to become the maestros of tomorrow. The conservation and promotion of India’s art and cultural heritage is very close to HCL’s heart. HCL has been organizing the HCL Concerts for 20 years, dedicated to identifying, evolving and promoting talent rooted in the glorious heritage of Indian classical performing arts. Over the years, HCL Concerts has evolved into a unique platform for the exceptionally talented veterans as well as upcoming artists – be it dancers, vocalists or instrumentalists. Over 500 artists have graced this platform and have contributed towards reinvigorating the Indian classical performing arts. ~~~~~~~~~ Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh Biography: Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh is India's torchbearer of Saraswati Veena, the national musical instrument of India. An artist, collaborator, composer, researcher, creator, pioneer, and educator Jayanthi is a sixth generation musician, who began playing the Veena at the age of three. She is one of the youngest Veena artistes to receive the A-Top grading from All India Radio. Her mother Smt. Lalgudi Rajalakshmi first introduced her to music and later she was trained by her maternal aunt and guru, Smt. Padmavathy Ananthagopalan, and Dr. S. Balachander. She also holds a Doctorate for her work on Styles and playing techniques of the Saraswati Veena. Apart from participating in several prestigious festivals in India and abroad, Jayanthi has performed with Tabla Ustad Zakir Hussain, Violin Maestro Shri R. Kumaresh and with the British Philharmonic at Royal Festival Hall, London. She has composed music for many musicals and dance productions. Dr. Jayanthi has recorded with several prestigious labels such as Times Music, Music Today, and Sa re ga ma. She has received many awards including the Sangeetha Choodamani, Kalaimamani, Veena Naada Mani and Kala Ratna.
