https://thesecondbutton.com/horsebit-... People want versatile shoes, but tend to assume that shoes need to be boring in order to be versatile. I don't think that's a good route. There's no point in getting rid of the strap or plug detailing on your loafers. Venetian loafers are not more versatile than pennies or horsebits, they're just more boring. I particularly like moc toe horsebits. The black + gold combo is a classic that works with a suit, and jeans, and shorts, and just about everything else. This is partly due to history (Gucci quickly gained attention in the 50s from lawyers and bankers to wear in business formal contexts) and partly due to inherent casual aspects of the shoe (a moccasin last is inherently more casual for reasons I can explain if you care). Gucci has the history and brand name recognition on lock, and sometimes put out unique designs worth considering. But Gucci is obviously going to charge Gucci prices, and honestly is not the highest quality on this list. So let's move on. For a good value / good quality, I'd recommend Carmina, Oak Street, Rancourt (either the leffot she models or their own calf models), or Meermin if you're on a budget. The most hyped brand right now is probably Blackstock and Weber, which is known for lug sole loafers, two tones, and unusual materials. Some of their models are very cool. They've inspired a lot of other brands to try funkier loafers; check out Horatio London, for example. I didn't even get into apron toes here--again, try Carmina--or in-between lasts (@morjasshoes stands out). Or women's loafers. Or... Man, 90 seconds is not enough time. The blog guide foes into much more detail, please do check it out. And then, if you still have questions, DM me, or comment here, or comment on the blog, or track me down in person to ask, or... Wait hang on maybe not that last one. #shoes #loafers #mensshoes #bitloafers #horsebitloafers
