The map being small does help with landing WSs, but it also helps triple DPS users with landing their normal attacks. So when I skill issue, I'll take a lot of damage without dealing my own. To elaborate on my explanation at 11:10, it was basically just desync. Animations are played locally, but my game didn't process that I got hit by Veronica's WS, so it didn't play the animation. However, I still got hit by the WS because the hits I take are calculated on my opponent's side, and Zointz' device did register the WS as having landed, so the lightning effect animation only displayed on their device.
