Samantha L. Beck, MD, FACS is a board-certified general surgeon practicing with Wichita Surgical Specialists and breast care surgeon with Breast Care Specialists. Her office is located at 551 N. Hillside St, Suite 201 in Wichita KS 67214. “I'm Dr. Samantha Beck, a general surgeon with Wichita Surgical Specialists. As a general surgeon with Wichita Surgical Specialists I treat diseases of the gallbladder. I treat abdominal hernias. I treat thyroid and parathyroid diseases as well as reflux diseases. I went to medical school at the University of Arkansas, it's in Little Rock, Arkansas. From there, when I was a third-year medical student I chose to go into general surgery. Then I got chosen for general residency in Wichita, Kansas, and I loved it so much I stayed to practice here. What I like the most about being in the medical community in Wichita is it really is a community. I think that we try to take care of each other. We try to help each other whenever possible and reach out to each other when we have questions or needs. So, I think it's really nice to be in Wichita for that reason. If I weren’t a surgeon then I’d probably be a college professor. I enjoy learning. I enjoy teaching others. That's why I enjoy being in a program that has residents, so I feel like I can pass on the knowledge that I've gained over the years. So, I think that's probably where I'd end up if I wasn't a general surgeon. I do really enjoy learning and mentoring, and I think Wichita Surgical really gives us a nice chance to do that because we're very integral to the residency program in Wichita. So, on a day-to-day basis we work with residents to help teach them and sometimes they help teach us too. We also have the ability to go to different conferences throughout the United States or even the world to learn more about our specialties, about the diseases we treat. So, Wichita Surgical really allows us the freedom to do that and they support us every time we go off and do a conference or some kind of learning experience. My family mostly lives in Arkansas so we try to take trips to see them as much as possible. I do enjoy running and so that's a daily thing for me. It helps with stress. In general, my husband and I love traveling and I think that's what we like to do the most on our down time. Even if it's just traveling to Western Kansas and seeing what there is to offer out there or traveling even further away, we just love getting out and seeing the different parts of the world. I really enjoy Wichita. Some of the things I enjoy most about it and are The Botanica, especially in the summer time. We try to go on Tuesday nights, they usually have live music and we can walk around the gardens. Those are always fun. We like the zoo. And we have really like the restaurants. So much has changed since I moved here. There’s so many new restaurants and we love trying new restaurants and all the movie theaters now have so many different experiences with them. So, we try to get out of the house as much as possible to see Wichita because there's just so much to offer here." Dr. Samantha L.
