In this video you can hear my rendition of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s “Prelude from Te Deum" played on my Hauptwerk organ. I have chosen to use the sample set of Rotterdam, created by Sonus Paradisi. Marc-Antoine Charpentier was a French baroque composer who lived from 1643 to 1704 and already as a young child was given lessons in music. He travelled at the age of 18 to Italy to study with Giacomo Carissimi among others but went back 2 years later to Paris The Prelude from his Te Deum (he actually wrote 6 settings on "Te Deum" however only 4 survived), Marche en rondeau, is a classic.
