If you think you have been following the tradition of your great-grandparents of the 1800s by believing the three members of the Godhead are literally one you are wrong. That was not what was believed by Christians in the last 1800s and early 1900s. Ironically Protestant, Evangelicals say that if you don't believe God the Father and Christ are literally the same being then you are not really a Christian. The reason is ironic is because that would mean they don't consider the Ancient Archbishops and Apostles and the reformers of the 1500, and 1600s AD, and their own great grandparents to be Christian. It is ironic because according the pre 1900s interpretation of the Athanasian Creed it is the Protestant Evangelicals who are actually NOT real Christians.!
