The year is 2022, the setting is a small Canadian town outside of Hamilton, Ontario. A man gets his third drill press. It was a good day. I scored this drill press from a friend a few years ago when they were cleaning out their shop to make space for a new project. It must have been run over or dropped, because the base, worktable and riser tube were entirely missing. Before filming, I had cut and turned a new riser tube to fit the drill press head. I had also welded up a base plate and attached to my rolling tool chest with some coarse threaded screws into the tool chest wooden top. Some cutting, welding, and straight up fabricobbling later - we have a new work table for the drill press that is perpendicular to the drill chuck. I'm very happy with this project and the addition of a third drill press to my home shop. I'm new to using a lathe, and it's quite obvious from this video that I've got a lot to learn when it comes to this new tool.
