An introduction to Pressure barrels and a serious amount of waffle about gas valves.

Poly Pins, otherwise more widely known as pressure barrels. They are made of food grade polythene and are not a barrel (although barrel shaped) as they do not hold 32 gallons. Pins technically hold 4.5 gallons but all will hold 5 gallons with some head space, which is important for conditioning your beer. I mainly use Top Take off King Kegs King Keg Top Tap | Pressure Barrel with S30 Valve Cap (home-brew-hopshop.co.uk), but I have used others, including bottom take off versions. I use S30 gas cylinders New - Brewgas L30 Cylinder | Co2 S30 Gas Cylinder (home-brew-hopshop.co.uk) and they require compatible inlet valves. I don't think that separate gas inlet and pressure release valves are still available, although the rubber valves to support them are the same. The hobby has moved to a single gas inlet and combined pressure release valve Brass S30 Valve for Homebrew Beer Pressure Barrels (home-brew-hopshop.co.uk) . They are also available in stainless steel, or were. There is a new Stainless steel valve on the market Stainless Steel Inlet and Relief Valve With Reversible Pin (home-brew-hopshop.co.uk). I thought that these would have been an improvement but the reversible pin isn't and I have so far failed to get the assembly to seal as it should so they are currently not recommended in the slightest.
