In this video, we’re visiting Swindon’s ghetto - or at least, one of them, and that’s Gorse Hill. Located just outside of the center of Swindon, Gorse Hill is one of the highest crime districts in Swindon. It’s also listed as the red light district, is - or was - home to one of the Hells Angel's hangouts, has a network of back alleys that are terrifying at night, and I can tell you from visiting it that it feels like you’re in a UK ghetto. There are anywhere from 50 to 80 crimes reported every month - which may not sound like a lot, but we’re talking about an area less than a mile squared, and keep in mind that these are only the reported crimes. The majority of crimes are violent offenses and anti-social behavior, which is typical for an area like this. The high number of criminal damage and arson reported is not, however, and that’s probably to do with how the area is designed with all the back alley access to the houses. Talking about alleys, here’s a look at some of the alleys that run throughout the residential areas in Gorse Hill. Even in daylight, it didn’t feel great walking down these narrow alleys, you can see how it’s easily a snare for robberies and assaults. Not to mention there was dog feces everywhere, loads of litter, graffiti, and it looks like a war zone for the most part. While researching the area before visiting Gorse Hill, something caught my eye that I feel deserves a mention - and that’s the Co-op. Obviously, the name caught my eye, then I noticed that the business was trolling customers who were leaving genuine reviews. It’s fairly obvious the Google Business account has been hacked, so don’t be offended if you’ve been trolled. If you’re interested in moving into Gorse Hill, according to Rightmove, the average sale price last year was £214,000 - that’s well below the average across Swindon as a whole which was £272,000. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed this tour around Gorse Hill - please take the time to press the like and subscribe buttons before you go so this video will reach more people.
