David Allan Ohlson grew up in Pensacola, Florida in the Bellview area with his mother Adrianna Ohlson and his father Aaron Ohlson. David had a promising foundation in his life. Not only a mother and father that adored him, but talents, musical skills, and access to recreational activities that not every kid gets to grow up with. As a youth, David went to Ferry Pass Middle School where he was a violinist before later attending Pine Forest High. He also performed in churches with youth groups. He had long term friends he hung out with, and regularly played games like Halo and Call of Duty. All things I can relate to in my youth as well. Only David was lucky to come from a more fortunate upbringing than I was. Not only did he have a doting mother and a father in the house, he went on trips and did things my family simply couldn’t afford if we valued daily meals or running water. David had direct access to things in his life that I didn’t. For example, I knew someone with an xbox and Halo. So I had access to that person rather than the item. I could never afford a violin or keyboard but found someone willing to donate an old church piano and I found a cheap low quality acoustic guitar to get me started in music. David has countless pictures of trips he’s gone on with his loving family in his childhood. He visited many places I could only dream of going as a kid. It’s true, on the surface, David Ohlson had it made. He was born into the right amount of privilege to afford things just out of reach from most people. He had ambitions too. After all, it takes a lot to learn an instrument and courage to perform on a stage. But music wasn’t his only passion. David took a swing at boxing. Another thing he and I have in common. Only I don’t think that one stuck for David. But there was something he enjoyed that seemed like it might lead to a promising future at one point. The military. David fancied himself a potential soldier. He was even in the Jr. ROTC for two years. On the 8th of April, 2022, 18 year old David Ohlson’s parents had been separated for a few weeks when his mother Adrianna called his father Aaron for help. According to her, David was armed with a loaded shotgun. It had been purchased by Aaron for home defence only and had been kept in a safe but David had access to it. Eventually David claims that he calmed himself down, unloaded the firearm, and put the weapon away. But as soon as Aaron Ohlson arrived, he witnessed a single shot get fired out of the gun and into Adrianna. This prompted him to call 911 and report, what he called, an accidental shooting. What you’re about to see is the bodycam footage from those that attended the scene. You’ll also hear mention of a previous incident at the house that involved a response from law enforcement. It’s vaguely mentioned. In fact, cops try to glide over that part. Reminding David and Aaron in hushed voices how the previous incident was sorted out and that this one would be too.
