Zu Audio's new METHOD bookshelf speaker, just released on 2/8/2025. This is PART #2 of my chat with the founder and CEO of Zu Audio, Sean Casey all about these new Method stand mount speakers. SPOILER ALERT: I was VERY impressed with them over the first 2 days I was able to start listening to them before this interview with Sean. I was able to begin comp listening to the Methods vs the Buchardt P300, the KEF LS50 META and the ZU DW6 base model and drove them with my XTZ Edge 150w@8 ohm class D amp and also my Class A SMSL VMV A1 10w@8ohm amp . Apologies for some of the audio roughness when I hit the mic I was wearing a couple times...MEA CULPA... my bad! We discuss in Part.2: bass extension and bass capabilities from these Method stand mounts how surprised I was at the bass reach that I heard from the Methods over my 2 days of listening Sean explains the acoustic crossover at 5000hZ on the 8" main driver and the triple-pole electrical high-pass filter on the tweeter Sean discusses how he went looking at aerospace and computer and EV and the switching market for the components he ended up using for the tri-pole electrical high-pass filter for the tweeter and how this has resulted in the Method speakers NOT having a Superfly or a Supreme version Sean discusses the co-ax interplay between the main driver and the tweeter and how critical that is and how he got that to work the way he wanted it to work while avoiding "over engineering" that solution. Still to come in Part 3: Sean's goal for these is to have a really uniform & cohesive sound field from these co-ax speakers from anywhere in the listening room I ask Sean how he was able to get such full, deep and really satisfying bass out of these Method bookshelfs...so we dig into the details and design on the large, fluted, front bass reflex port how, in my opinion, how OCD Zu is about matching EVERYTHING that makes up a "matched pair" of Zu speakers what is the benefit to how the speakers SOUND from those great lengths Zu goes to to deliver "matched pairs" *Why the Methods are Zu's first speakers that do NOT have optional Superfly or Supreme versions of the Method (this is really interesting!)
