Dr. Ronald Wharton, a cardiologist at Northwell's Cardiovascular Institute, discusses hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) treatment. He explains that cardiac myosin inhibitors are a new class of medications that have revolutionized HCM treatment. These medications work by decreasing the force with which the heart contracts, which helps to alleviate the obstruction caused by the mitral valve. Dr. Wharton also discusses how patients are monitored on these medications and how the dose can be titrated to achieve the desired effect.
