Game footage of the amazing Atari 800XL game Encounter! Released in 1983 by Synapse software, developed by Novagen Software/Paul Woakes. This is one of the first smooth 1st person shooters ever! There's no music in this game, but the gameplay is awe inspiring. You only get one enemy at a time, but they can be really hard at times, specially on the higher levels. You never know what enemy type you'll encounter next, and some can blow out quite a few bullets, or even self destruct, and what about those homing missiles! Yikes! Anyway, I hope you like this vid, and maybe also this game. It's easy to find it for an emulator. By the way, this video was shot in one go. The small intro before the actual loading of the game, is incorporated in an OS rom I tweaked for the purpose. For Atari XL/XE afficianados: It replaces the self test.
