Mango is one of the most important fruit cultivated all over Bangladesh. Generally, it is grown in the summer season but now a few varieties are also available in Bangladesh (BARI Aam-11) which can be grown in this country almost throughout the year. Natore district under the Rajshahi division is a good mango growing district and different kinds of mango varieties viz., Amropali, Lakhsmon bhog, Khirsha pati, Gopal bhog, Langra, Fajli, Mollika, Guti aam, Kolaboti, BARI Aam-4, BARI Aam-11, Himsagor, Ashwina, Kancha mitha etc. are grown here abundantly. The soil and climate of this district is very much suitable for commercial mango cultivation. This is why now many mango growers are growing mangoes commercially and earning good income from mango cultivation. As a result huge number of mangoes are produced in this district annually and the surplus is sold to the local markets from where these mangoes are transported to different parts of Bangladesh such as, Dhaka, Chottogram, Sylhet, Barishal, Khulna etc. by the professional traders. Therefore, mango cultivation brings good profit to the growers of this region. And more and more areas are now coming under commercial mango cultivation each and every year.
