This is a video of me inserting a grommet or ventilation tube into an ear drum. This is one of the shortest operations in ENT, and it is used to improve hearing and to gain access to the middle ear if you want to drip some medications into there, or allow pus to come out. The whole operation only takes a minute or so, and is actually relatively easy. In this operation I make 3 technical errors (nothing terrible), so if you are a junior doctor, your challenge is to pick out what I could have done better.
