I thought this would be a straightforward drive home. It wasn’t. This LS3-swapped, turbo Porsche was loud, raw, and way less forgiving than I expected — and partway through the trip, I wasn’t sure it was making it back to Texas. I flew from Houston to West Palm Beach to pick up one of the wildest cars I’ve owned yet: a 76mm turbo, LS3-swapped Porsche 996. After meeting the seller and finalizing the deal, I pointed it west and committed to the long drive home. The trip started smooth through Florida, but things escalated quickly. Fuel issues, unexpected stops, and one final problem just miles from home turned this into more than just a road trip.
