In this alternative timeline, on September 11, 2001, a group of jihadist terrorists coordinated by a terrorist leader called ”The Cleric”, sheltered by the Taliban in Afghanistan, attacked the United States. On September 15, US President Al Gore (Democrat) declared the "War on Terrorism" and demanded that the Taliban regime hand over bin Laden. The Taliban refused. To respond to the threat, the United States launched Operation Enduring Freedom on October 7, 2001, with the objective of eliminating Al-Qaeda and supporting a rebel group, the Northern Alliance, to overthrow the Taliban regime. On November 13, 2001, the Americans and the Northern Alliance took control of the Afghan capital, Kabul. However, Osama bin Laden was nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, the Americans are dealing with a Taliban resistance in the Shah-i-Kot Valley and launch Operation Anaconda. On March 2, 2002, four members of the Navy Seal and AFO Neptune: Mother (Team leader), Preacher (Rifleman), Voodoo (M60 gunner; second in command) and Rabbit (Marksman) travel to Gardez, in search of an ex-Taliban contact named Tariq who claims to have strategic intel on the Taliban.
