Amritsar police bust international drug racket; 60 kg heroin seized, 9 arrested Amritsar, June 30 – In one of the largest drug seizures of 2025, Amritsar Police Commissionerate, in a joint operation with BSF and Rajasthan Police, confiscated over 60kg of heroin from near the India-Pakistan border in Barmer, Rajasthan. Nine people were arrested from various states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and J&K. Among the arrested are several from Amritsar district: Gursahib Singh, Jashanpreet Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Parshotam Singh, Gagandeep Singh, and Rajinder Kaur. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed the cartel was run by Canada-based smuggler Joban Kaler and Pakistan-based kingpin Tanveer Shah.
