Which Guitar Sounds Better—the Art and Luthrie Ami cedar parlor guitar or the Godin Motif nylon string parlor guitar, set up with steel strings and the TurboTail?. In this video, we compare two nearly identical parlor guitars made by Godin: 🎸 Art & Lutherie Ami – Built for steel strings with X-bracing 🎸 Godin Motif – A classical guitar with fan bracing, now modified for steel strings using the TurboTail Both guitars feature: • Solid cedar tops • Wild cherry laminate back and sides • 12-fret neck joints • Identical body shapes The only major design differences are scale length and internal bracing. The Ami has a 24.75" scale and is built to withstand steel-string tension. The Motif has a longer 25.5" scale and is built as a classical nylon string guitar. Therefore, it has much lighter fan bracing since nylon string tension is about half that of steel strings. With the TurboTail, we’ve safely fitted the Motif with steel strings by transferring the string tension away from the delicate soundboard and into the guitar’s tail block. This allows the fan-braced top to vibrate freely, without the risk of structural damage. So which one sounds better?
