One question has always crossed my mind....was America ready for Pink Lady.......or was Pink Lady ready for America? Granted, this J-Pop duo of Mitsuyo "Mie" Nemoto and Keiko "Kei" Kuwaki was very popular in their home country of Japan until their break-up in 1981 (but have reunited several times afterwards), they had briefly minor success in the US in 1979 with their only single, "Kiss In The Dark". The song did hit the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #37, but only made it to #49 on the Cash Box Top 100. They even had a short-lived variety show with comedian Jeff Altman on NBC called "Pink Lady & Jeff". The show was a critical and commercial disaster but at least everyone got to see how sexy Mie & Kei look in bikinis. You may not agree, but I kinda like this song. Their vocals blend well with the rhythm of the song. America may not have received a platonic helping of Pink Lady, but at least they got to have a small taste.
